Evening all
re: Sidney Crosby.
Apparently grade 8 girls think he’s their generation’s Marlon Brando (if, you know, Brando played hockey and was 20 years old).
I hate that guy. Though, if that years draft wouldn’t have been fixed and the Oilers wound up with him, I’d probably cheer for him.
Wait, it’s 65 in Jersey, but only 61 in LA? GLOBAL FREEZING more like!
Ba-zing! Truth though, we’re a littel late on magnetic pole switch, an ice age and also due for a mass extinction. Oh geology and astro physics classes. I miss learning about how and why we’re going down as a civilization/species.
Ohhh the Pole switch. I’ve been telling people about that one a long time. Global warming as sideshow when that happens. Should be fun!
For sure. You gotta think that when the Earths entire magnetic structure flips around that there will be electronic ramifications.
2nd law of thermodynamics and all that, right?
Compelling story for the upcoming NFL season: Which QB will suck the worst, but still give enough false hope to keep them on rosters- Tavaris Jackson or Vince Young?
Has to be Young. Tavaris doesn’t give anybody hope. He’ll be the worse QB, but only as bad as everybody thinks he is.
Good point re: Tavaris.
Brett Favre.
My money is on Young since he has Mr. Jack Daniels, ie Kerry Collins, backing him up. Besides when you have Chris Johnson as your RB you have a lot of the pressure taken off of you.
Hey Gally what happened to you starting a Podcast?
It’s eventually coming. My schedule keeps changing, plus I need to sort out some of the minor details.
Is there something special we have to do to set it up?
Well apparently I’m retarded for starters. Logic was able to get his interview up on iTunes whilst I couldn’t figure it out. Secondly, I have to figure out the best software to use. Lastly, I have to get a microphone or get my headpiece to work. Yes, I’m aware I’m too retarded to run a website.
Your like my Canadian doppleganger. My mic on my headset doesn’t work either, and I had to stop running a website cause it was too complicated….an EZBoard website….
haha
I had to make a podbean and convert the file to an mp3 to get it on iTunes. The address that we had on TGB didn’t work for some reason. btw, I was totally on ambien and don’t remember how I did it. I think it’s going to be tough to do it again in the future. Unless I go through a drunken recall like in Beerfest.
I see. Well, I shall figure it out. I always do somehow.
Okay, I clicked that link. I hope it “voted”. And those folks are to be commended for having their mockery accepted by Doritos. That’s pretty cool.
No kidding. It clearly was making a mockery of the situation. I think after hitting the link you have to click on vote, though page views are also appreciated.
well, i didn’t see a “vote” button. but i’m neither going to register for the website just to vote.
Thats completely fair
that you do.
This is for the thread above this one.
Haha, I guessed that, but thanks anyways!
So I joined a Fantasy League, and Matt Kemp was the 6th rated player, with Ellsbury being #20. I watch Kemp play 80-100 games a year, and if he’s the 6th most valuable fantasy player, stolen bases are waaaay overvalued. JE at #20 only reinforces my belief. /Rated Chutley #1, won me $50 last year
can’t go wrong with Chutley, in my book. And no, I’m not Clare.
Booo?? Fuck you!
Reasons to like the Phillies:
Chutley, Baseball Jesus (Doc Halladay)
Reasons not to:
Some guy on this website called ‘deadspin’ that I don’t look at will post a pile of stories related to how awesome his team is.
And on that note, I’m out for the night.
Being evaluated by someone from the uni tomorrow. Not worried about the in-class part, but I’ve been lazy and I’m a little behind on the paperwork, so that will keep me busy tonight.
Well, I didn’t say I was/am a Phils fan, sheesh. I’ll root for them over the Mets, but so will most folks in South Jersey.
And at the risk of you hating on me for the rest of my natural life, I’m a Red Sox and Indians fan, in that order.
Nope. NOPE! Everything’s fine.
/looks over shoulder
Deadspin is a GREAT website!
/nervous laughter.
*talks into phone* I think everything is fixed, Mr. Daulerio, sir.
Uh oh, we’re not in debt to him for his favor are we? I can’t handle that stress.
We need coke! And lots of it!
It’s quite the spiral.
With my FIoS I’ve been getting to watch some La Liga along with Serie A. The Spanish League is enjoyable to watch, the Italian, not so much. The EPL looks sort of car crashy in comparison, but teams that play more physical usually do. I’m happy for Landycakes, and really hope they find a way to keep him in Everton.
what, with Fios you get extra services or something? Or you just subscribe to FSC over Fios? Either way, I’d agree with you, particularly about the Serie A.
Yeah with FIoS out here in LaLa Land, I get FSC, GolTV for free, along with all the major American league channels. So much better then old cable. I don’t pay an extra penny to get all that, wrapped up with internet and telephone for about a hundred bucks.
That’s a pretty good deal
I wish I could corroborate what you’re talking about. I barely get to watch EPL let alone the other leagues.
If any of y’all like Parks and Rec, and Star Wars, I present:
How is everyone doing?
chillin’ and eating potato chips. you?
It’s all good in the hood.
@Sculptor: anything good or just the regs?
@Gally: solid, mang.
werd dog! We’re going to pimp this blog by putting a blog in it. That way you can blog while you’re blogging while taking a dump.
http://img4chan.blogspot.com/2009/06/xzibit-vs-pomeranian.html
Fucking awesome. I can’t believe it took me so long to get into 4chan. It’s totally my type of thing.
same here man. Those guys are effing geniuses. Especially the .gif fuckers.
I concur
Kettle brand sweet onion. the bag is now clean.
Pancakes or French Toast? Choose your next words wisely, for they may be my dinner tonight. Go.
French toast. You can make stuffed french toast, but only shitty pancakes with fruit in them…
French toast. Leftovers can be used to make a really awesome grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
That comment gets a win and a +100 and whatever else anyone can think of. That would make an excellent grilled ham and cheese.
A croque-monseiur a la Monte Cristo? I will do this someday. Not today though, hungry for French Toast.
crêpes!!!!
Say it!!!!!
/Ricky Bobby’d
Crepes are good, but I’m still going to have to side with French Toast.
This is the image Logic would have you click for:

HAHAHAHAA, that’s fabu.
I know hey?
Yeah I don’t know how to put up pictures. Just videos.
(img src=”http://imagesource[usually imageshack or something].com”) where you replace the () with <>
Thanks homie.
no prob
@ Sculptor
It’s impossible to hate a fan of the Cleveland Indians. Even Pirates fans thinks that the Indians have had it rough.
aww, thanks. i wound up adopting them when i moved to Cleveland. But i was sure you’d get on my case for being a Red Sox fan
AND YOU HAVE THE STARTING YANKEE ROTATION FOR YOUR PITCHERS!?!
It’s sacrilegious.
OY. Blame MRD’s auto draft, pal.
\jealous much? *snrk*
Good evening folks. Commence to entertaining me.
Doesn’t the lovely Sofia entertain you enough? What more must I do for you Rob?
What you want I should do, belly dance? (you really don’t want to see that….)
Some lions eating Christians would be nice. I’m just saying…
As I’m one of those Christians, I don’t believe I can provide that entertainment for you today. Mayhaps another.
how about a panda enjoying itself?
My interest was piqued for a moment… then that moment drifted away…
Yeah, I’ll second the motion for Lions eating Christians. Or lions eating Pandas.

*code didn’t work for me :(
It works best with an image sharing site such as image shack or some such thing.
Otters using rocks to open up their clam dinners?

And as all of you USA Americans contemplate April 15th, think of this: The owners of the Dodgers have paid themselves 100+million the last 6 years and not paid a penny in state or federal taxes. Owners across the sports spectrum can blow me if they think I should ever side with them against the players.
Welcome to the good side.
Jesus Christ, stop it right now. Corporate tax questions are like the fucking WSR-signal.
yay it worked.
Lolergags!!
It was a tad off, but a simple fix.
I’m laughing like a 5 year old retard at that picture.
Fuck. Yes.
Iron Man 2 trailer.
I’m scared for this one, I hated Whiplash as a character in the comics. The Black Widow though….rawr!
Yeah but it’s not just whiplash.. It’s Mickey Rourke talking to a parrot, drunkenly as Whiplash.
Plus Scarlett.
Double RAWR for me on ScarJo as Widow.
But War Machine? Justin Hammer and an army of stolen Starktech? I believe.
I super love my cell phone provider. They arbitrarily cut my phone service off, because I didn’t pay all of last months bill. This happened today, 7 days before the pay before date on my bill. It also happened $100 dollars below my cell credit limit/cut off point. They are so super special.
@ Martin
Wha’ts this about the Dodgers not having to pay state or Federal taxes?
Is the IRS after them now?
’cause they’re after Pompey (Portsmouth in English soccer for trying to get away with taxes being optional)

Re: owners.
I agree. It’s hard to take the side of one rich person against the other, but I’d take the players over the owners (if the money wasn’t there, then they couldn’t pay them what they do).
I am, however, in favour of a salary cap in all sports – but set at something at which the players get the most revenue that the league can support, while the owners still make some money.
by ‘they’re’ I mean HMR or whatever the revenue equivalent is in the UK.
I agree with that version of a salary cap – but i’d set it lower than what you have, so the sports can stay affordable for average people to attend a game or three.
True, I’d love the cap to be kept low, but I feel that the owners would just jack up the ticket prices anyway to what the market could bear.
I am all in favour of keeping the prices low.
It’s the owners, Frank and Jaime, and she’s divorcing him, and as a former practicing attorney, she apparently knows where all the financial skeletons are buried…and once in court it becomes public record. According to the LA Times, the Dodgers have paid the McCourts over 100 million dollars since 2004. The McCourts haven’t paid a penny in taxers since, cause our tax system is set up so that if you make a shit ton of money…you pay less taxes then your secretary. (see Buffet, Warren famous quote)
They also have the team pay for a shitload of stuff as “work related”. I’m sure my broke ass state will be looking into them and their finances very very carefully now…and really…the IRS comes calling soon after I would think. Sadly, I wouldn’t bet that they did anything illegal, just marginally unethical.
You’re assuming that the money saved in player salary would be passed on to the fan, despite 1 billion cases of the opposite holding true.
It would be nice though.
It’s fucking Panda night at Last Call!
Pandas fucking???? I thought this was a nice blog….
Pandas are adorable. Fucking is perfectly natural. Hence Panda Fucking =perfectly natural adorable.
WINNAR
Definitely WINNAR.
Martin, you’re slightly off. The McCourts are paying themselves that $100m for 2 reasons: 1) They can argue that it is reasonable compensation for their position (IE it’s really tough to own a MLB franchise, and that’s fair compensation as directors of said franchise.) If any other owners are doing the same thing (being active in the day-to-day operations of the club and paying themselves a metric shit-ton of money), it’s reasonable and ordinary and therefore allowed. And 2) if they’re paying themselves that much so that the club as a whole doesn’t have actually gain money (revenues exceeding expenses, and compensation counts as an expense), then they don’t need to pay any additional taxes. They’re going to pay taxes for merchandise sales, property, and employment.
@Martin, you’ve just been Accountant’d
Seems about right to me too. I’d imagine their salary isn’t too far off what Steinbrenner or Moreno make (using relative market size and popularity as an examnple).
See also, Pohlad family.
It’s not about the Dodgers, it’s about the McCourts. They themselves haven’t paid any taxes. It has nothing to do with the team itself, and everything about them on a personal tax basis. They personally have paid no income tax and it’s because of “losses” from before they acquired the Dodgers, which they keep carrying forward from their real estate business.
AWESOME! PANDAS!
I just cleared this place out, didn’t I? One tax comment, and it’s like I discovered a Taco Bell buffet.
Haha, no, this place goes in waves
New nickname for Ben Roethlisberger: Grabby Hands Ben?
I was using Rapelisberger, but that might be a little too much. Which is why I love it.
Yeah, I’ve heard that one though. Big Ben has go to go and Jason Whitlock’s “Pac Ben” isn’t working for me.
Oh, I’ve been using Rapistberger since the first whore came forward.
That’s why we must brainstorm for new ones!
Meh, I like Rapisberger. It’s hard to change nicknames mid-rape allegation.
You so funny.
Grabby Hands Ben…GHB?
Solid, but there’s got to be something better we can come up with.
I like it.
I’m guessing Gentle Ben is out?
\laughs into sleeves
Well, no one’s ever accused him of not being gentle. Maybe he just doesn’t cuddle when he’s done.
Rape-o-tron?
Pittsburgh Hymen Stealer?
Quarter bareback?
Inmate 7937W326-P
Ok folks. I’m outta here.
re: Rapistburger/BEN/7/GHB/the rapey one
The only thing I wonder about it is if it were actually rape, shouldn’t the accuser(s) be pressing charges? If I’m remembering correctly, neither have pressed charges.
I’m pretty naïve, but wouldn’t ‘justice’ be better than a cash settlement. I also have no idea how the justice system works. I’m not trying to say that BEN’s innocent, or even doubt what’s going on here, but isn’t a criminal charge the right way to do this? Cause if the charges are false (wasn’t that the case for Duke Lacrosse when that coach was fired over unsubstantiated charges?) wouldn’t this be the better way to verify it and if (when?) proven true, really stick it to the GHB?
Of course, cash is what happened with Kobe. Also, BEN is clearly not the sharpest tack in the box.
For the record, it’s not rape if you enjoy it…Just saying.
he was just teachin them “full mount”
it was more of a “struggle snuggle”
I’m posting about this tomorrow but I hit on this. It’s either:
a) money grubbing whores
or
b) the DA won’t take the criminal cases.
either way, the cops haven’t commented on the second one to give out any strong info and I’m not very familiar with the first case.
Great links, Gally.. Zach Galifianakis monologue (Kilometers Davis) was awesome and the Handsome Club as ROTU was equally as great.
Thanks. I try to have something for everyone at Last Call. Well, Blogkakke as well.
okay gang, one old lady off to bed. see you miscreants tomorrow.
Ok I’m out as well.
I’m stickin with Grabby Hands Ben. Thanks.
