This Double Standard Disgusts Me

I apologize if I get off topic a bit here in talking about movies instead of sports and forced sexual relations, but there is something I’ve had to get off my chest this week; namely, the hypocrisy that is middle aged women who fawn over under aged boys by fantasizing and fainting over the Twilight movie saga.

Women, your actions are purely disgusting. While I have mostly tried to stay away from this prepubescent explosion of strange feelings that women get for these movie boys, the fact that the Twilight movies and their collection of dashing and hunky young men who CLEARLY are too young for these Twilight-Moms, has grabbed the national consciousness has forced my hand and drawn my own attention. And I’ve noticed several things. First, the movies look absolutely terrible and I am disgusted that such intelligent and courageous women who’s own parents fought for your right to vote, work, and wear pants is being embarrassed by this classless fawning over physical male specimens that are thrice your age.

Second, and perhaps the worst part about all of this, is the fact that many media outlets and major publications have embraced this phenomenon as the most fantastic thing to happen to women, their relationships, and their vaginas since the invention of the vibrator. While some noble underground authors have tried to debunk this world wide freak show, it has thus been all for naught as the movies keep wetting pantaloons in immature fashion. And with the major media’s support we find ourselves in a harrowing position as a culture; the acceptance and encouragement of older women prowling on under aged men.

The double standard here is disgusting and shameful. Never would you see such open fawning for a prepubescent young woman by a man be so openly accepted and encouraged by our culture. There are clear lines against sexual predatory actions that have been drawn, and any man who so much as attempts to cross those lines is punished with a public filing as a sexual deviate, disgraced with his scarlet letter for all eternity and shunned by society. However, when a woman is behind this predatory actions, it is encouraged and supported with rationalizations of “spicing up your sex life” or “encouraging women to read”, which is a statement that is so full of lies and ridicule that I shall not even cover it in this article.

I find myself hoping that over this holiday weekend, readers keep this truth in mind. When the younger male readers go to the beach or perhaps take their shirt off to play an innocent game of beach volley ball, I beg of you to beware of the sexually deviant women leering at your from over the top of their most recent vampire novel. Their fantasy world is both dangerous and frightening for our world. For the women readers who realize the faults of their same sex peers, please discourage a weekend inside the theatre. The only way we can correct our cultural misbehavior is by taking personal responsibility and action, and I implore you to be the agent of change.
